Countdown

Wow... time is marching on! To think I have lived here for a full 6 months and that I will be home for a visit in just a few days... I actually can't believe it!

These last couple of weeks have been busy! With the academic year coming to an end here, it seems everybody is trying to squeeze in all the events - both professional and personal! So the weeks have been jam packed :)

This weekend I did a 12km race around the Lac de Joux - about 1.5hours away from Lausanne by train. It was a very picturesque run with only about 300 runners - so quite pleasant actually. Except for the heat - the race began at 3pm, and it was above 30 degrees! I did the race with a fellow PhD student and her boyfriend, and I was so glad for their company. We were happy with our time and all felt really good and strong despite the heat, so I think all my 5:45am runs have paid off! Now it is time for the Lausanne half marathon in October!

Other memorable events from recent days included eating tomato, mozzarella & basil macaroons... as well as one's flavoured with lavender and foie gras - can't say I am a fan. Today I had brunch at one of my favourite places Etoile blanche (still hard to beat pancakes, egg, bacon and maple syrup - yum!) and then farewell drinks for a colleague tonight - I really appreciate the community I am part of here!

2.5 busy days of work left and then I will be home - SO EXCITED!
